Pressure leaf filters are pressure vessel with vertical mounted leaf’s accumulated on central outlet filter manifold. There are two types of filters classified according to shell design.
1.vertical pressure leaf filters.
2. Horizontal pressure leaf filters.
1. Vertical Pressure leaf filters
Equipment is designed
vertically with conical bottom & dish end top. Filter elements are easily
mounted vertically from top, which is tighten with “l” bolt system,
to ensure quick loosing/tightening. Electro-pneumatic operated butterfly valve
is installed at bottom end for quick removal of filtered material.
2.Horizontal pressure Leaf filters
As compared to other continuous filtration process HPLFs offer simplicity of process, easy operation and maintenance, modest space requirement & low energy consumption.
The horizontal pressure leaf filters are classified as how filter is opened for cleaning.
1. shell retraction: filter body/shell is retracted back while head and leaf bundle is stationery.
2. leaf bundle retraction: in this type filter head and leaf bundle moves while opening.
The horizontal leaf filter (shell retraction) consist of a horizontal cylindrical vessel with special bonnet wedged lock closure & neoprene seal. The retractable filter shell is mounted on 4 external mounted wheel assemblies and retraction is accomplished by hydraulic cylinders complete with hydraulic power pack. The hydraulic cylinders are connected to power pack by high-pressure flexible rubber hoses/s.s.tubing.
All nozzle connections are mounted on fixed head of filter vessel & to open & close the filter vessel, during cake discharge no connections have to be disconnected. To avoid opening under pressure, appropriate interlocking is provided, if process demands.
Horizontal pressure leaf filters (HPLF) are designed for high flow rates and batch operation. HPLF are used when the filter cake is sticky and difficult to remove. Horizontal pressure leaf filters are specially designed for filtration of wax in edible oils.

3. Candle Filter:
The Candle Filters are, as all pressure filters, operating on a batch cycle and may be seen in process lines handling titanium dioxide, flue gas, brine clarification, red mud, china clay, fine chemicals and many other applications that require efficient low moisture cake filtration or high degree of polishing.
Candle Filters are also used for thickening to produce a concentrated flowable slurry by partial removal of the liquid phase as filtrate. This mode of operation is possible since Candle Filters may operate on very short cycle times taking advantage of the high filtration rates whilst the cakes are still thin. One of the features of Candle Filters when used for thickening is their clear filtrate since gravity Thickeners, in analogy, produce overflows which always contain a certain amount of fine suspended solids.
4. Miscella filter:
These filters are used for filtering solid contaminants from Vegetable oil and Solvent Mixtures. these are widely popular amongst our clients for reducing the need for frequent cleaning of downstream equipment and the necessity of expensive plant shutdowns.
5. Magnetic filter:
Magnetic Filters are used for filtration of iron particles from products in liquid/slurry form. They are essentially used in chemical, food, pharma and oil industries. They are also frequently used in hydraulic circuits in cooling systems. The Filter Magnets are made up of either Ceramic or High Intensity Rare Earth Magnets
6. Sparkle filter:
The main operation of sparkler filter press is to filter the impure liquid. Arriving on top of each horizontal plate with increasing pressure, the filter media holds back the impurities and allows the filter to pass through Centre by interlocking cups, which takes the filtrate to the outlet of the filter. The cake formed between the horizontal plates can also be obtained. The function of filtration process becomes slow when the liquid reached its holding capacity into the cake.
